The Royal Hippodrome Friends were formed in 1992 with the intention of ensuring the continued use of the Royal Hippodrome Theatre for Eastbourne residence. Since then we have given our support in many different ways.
We currently work closely with the Royal Hippodrome Eastbourne CIC who manage the theatre to achieve these goals. We have raised funds to renew stage flooring, add new seat numbers, install new taps and plumbing for the Dress Circle Bar and Ladies toilets, update the hearing loop to include the Dress Circle, redecoration of the circle fronts and most recently we have provided funds to pay for new carpeting in the newly refurbished foyer.
As friends we also have the opportunity to volunteer at the theatre. We greet audience members, assist in front of house duties - including ushering and serving behind the bar. We also conduct monthly theatre tours to raise additional funds.
Friends benefits include 2 x 10% ticket discounts, 2 x drinks in the bar and 2 x ice creams to use throughout the year. There are occasions when complimentary tickets are offered, as well as pre release sales for popular events. You will also receive a regular newsletter keeping you up to date with everything the friends are doing to support our historic theatre.
